Help offer hope amid violence and despair
When war first erupted in Tigray, Ethiopia last November, the world was deaf to the cries of pain and suffering.
The brutal assaults … the senseless massacres … the heartbreaking isolation from outside assistance … all was lost amid the devastation of the ongoing pandemic. With so many COVID-related stories to cover, the media simply couldn’t hear the victims’ cries for help.
But our Salesian missionaries heard.
More than that, they saw. Because they serve in four communities within the Tigray region, our dedicated priests, brothers and sisters witnessed first-hand, the terrible consequences of this human catastrophe. And they immediately sprang into action to help innocent victims with nowhere else to turn.
Your gift today means they can continue their efforts.
Already, our missionaries are making a remarkable difference. In Adwa, Adigrat, Mekelle and Shire, they are baking and distributing between 2,200 and 2,600 loaves of bread daily. They are providing clean water to the thousands of people who come searching for it each morning. And they are distributing food, medical supplies, and other basic necessities to internally displaced people living in five local camps.
